    Who It’s For

Ground training works for every stage of flying

    Student pilots

Supplement your flight training with structured ground sessions. Arrive at each lesson already knowing the theory β€” fly fewer hours to checkride.

    Pre-checkride students

Your practical test is weeks away. A mock oral session with a CFI is the single best thing you can do to walk in confident and ready.

    Pilots preparing for BFR

Get the ground portion of your biennial flight review done right. Cover the areas that actually matter for how and where you fly.

    Pilots changing aircraft

Adding a new aircraft to your logbook? Ground training in the systems, performance, and procedures helps you fly it safely from day one.

    Sim pilots going real

Have Microsoft Flight Simulator hours but want to start real training? A ground session helps you understand what carries over and what doesn’t.

    Remote students nationwide

Not near Truckee? Our video ground sessions are fully loggable and let you work with a Blue Jewel instructor from anywhere in the country.

    Online vs. Live Instruction

Two ways to learn β€” both have a place

Our online ground school and live instructor sessions aren’t competing products β€” they’re complementary. Here’s how most students use both.

πŸ“– Online ground school β€” $97

    • βœ“ Self-paced, study anywhere
    • βœ“ All 12 FAA knowledge areas
    • βœ“ 300+ practice questions
    • βœ“ Written exam simulator
    • βœ“ Best for building foundational knowledge
    • βœ“ Lifetime access, revisit anytime

🎀 Live ground instruction β€” hourly

    • βœ“ Real-time Q&A with a CFI
    • βœ“ Loggable ground instruction time
    • βœ“ Targeted to your specific weak areas
    • βœ“ Mock oral exam preparation
    • βœ“ Best for checkride prep and gap-filling
    • βœ“ In person or video call
    The smart approach

Complete the online ground school first to build your foundation β€” then use live sessions to fill gaps, run mock orals, and sharpen anything that isn’t sticking. Students who combine both consistently reach checkride readiness faster and with more confidence.

    How It Works

    Booking a ground training session

    1

    Contact us

Tell us what you need β€” checkride prep, written exam help, BFR ground, or something else. We’ll match you with the right session.

    2

    Schedule

Pick a time that works β€” in person at KTRK or via video call from anywhere. Sessions are typically 1–2 hours.

    3

    Prepare

We’ll send you any prep materials in advance. The more you bring, the more we can cover. Students who do our online course first get more from live sessions.

    4

    Log it

Your instructor logs the session as ground instruction time. Fully loggable toward your certificate requirements.

Ready to get specific about what you need?

Whether you’re weeks from a checkride or just starting out, a conversation with our instructors will point you in the right direction.
